Hi, I just replaced all the innerds to my 2N front mount distributor and was wondering if it should be this tight to turn by hand? Does it need breaking in so to speak? I greased the shaft at both (new)front and back bushings.

Rat, I had no idea what parts I was gonna need til I took it off and looked at it. Found out that it was waring very badly and that I didn't want to fix it without doing it right and replacing everything. Before it was sloppy. Now I have to use pliers to turn the shaft. Have you got the parts and service manuals? I wouldn't attempt anything without these two books. Good luck!!!

I did 3 of them, with both bushings. Yep they are pretty tight, but both of them run good. I suspect they loosen up with use.

Were the bushings reamed to fit after installation? Bushings are nearly always supplied slightly on the thick side so they can be reamed to the right clearance to match a slightly worn shaft
