I have a 39 9N of it seems to have a initial power lose under one circumstance. It loses power when I engage the PTO to the brushhog and let the clutch off it starts off really slow at a very low RPM then gradually climbs back to normal wants it gets moving it runs great. I have put on new plugs, wires, coil, distibutor the whole works. It's like I have to ride the clutch alittle bit longer to get going. Any ideas???

Al..... ...sounds like your governor isn't responding to the load of your brushhog spinnin' up. Usually grooved ball races. Quick test, with engine at about 1/3 throttle, hand-jazz yer carb-governor rod for more rpms, does your governor "fight you?". NO? bad governor..... ...Dell

Sounds normal.
Next time, take it out of gear, engage the pto, let out the clutch to get the bush hog spinning some and then engage the tranny and drive off.
Too much work to get the tractor and the hog all started moving at the same time. You ever take physics? The 'normal' force required to get something moving is greater than the force needed to keep it moving...or something like that there.

I took six years of Physics and that sounds right to me... There is just to much interia for the tractor to handle... but I would most certainly check the gov. and mack sure that it is working properly. Good luck.

Governor or not, if you start your forward movement together with the pto spinning all at once in tall grass you'll sure kill it.
The governor on my 8N works like a champ. I guess it's habit for me to give the hog a bump before I engage the tranny. I work my tractor and don't care if she likes it but I don't make it pull hard for nothing.

I work my tractor as well on the few fields that I have. I do the same thing (first start the hog then move the 8N into the grass) I think the bottom line is as long as it works and works well that is the important part. I hope I helped, if not well its been fun talking. I
