Rear axle housing gasket

I am replacing the rear axle housing gaskets on my
52 N and I noticed the gaskets I am scraping off are thicker then the paper ones I bought to replace does anyone know if this matters I mean the ones I purchased are paper thin Thanks

I'd be more concerned with rechecking the wheel bearing adjustment and correcting it if necessary than whether or not they will seal up. The thinner gaskets will have your trumpet, axle, and bearings sitting closer to the housing by a small amount. I know it's not much, but if you put a thinner gasket on both sides, it might be enough to cause the axle shafts to bind against each other in the differential if you don't add a shim at the bearing retainer. The check and adjustment procedure is in the FO-4.

Yeah, they are thin, but they work okay. I have replaced several in the past year or so, and none of them ever leaked.
Wet them down with water before slipping them over the studs.
