Thanks to all that helped with my posts on my 52 8N's startn ana runnin problems. I'm happy to say you guys were right on target. Put the new VR in last night turned the o gurl over and varoom off she went and lo and behold that 52 year old induction type amp meter worked (it hasn't worked since I bought the tractor last year seller told me he had recently put a new VR on so I figured the old ampmeter to be dead) read positive 10 amps initially then droped to -5 then immediately to 0. Cycled between 0 +5 and -5 then 0 at idle. When I cranked it up it would drop to -5 then 0 then +5 to +10 then back to 0. So it appears to be working. I left the battery hooked up to see if it's dead tonight. Also, noticed after this repair that since I disconnected the oil pressure gauge it now reads pressure all the time. It use to drop from around 20 to 0 after runnin 5min. Last night had 20 initially then settled just shy of 20! So I have pretty much rebuilt the electircal system (key switch, battery, wiring harness, points, condenser, rotor, cap, plug wires, plugs(have a coil on hand for when the old one goes), VR, rewired the headlights internally (still need to put them back on and wire them up to the system though). Guess my next project is, as the boss said this past Saturday, "you need to paint it." I believe, to coin a phrase, she thinks my tractors sexyyyyy. It really turns her on... Thanks again for all the help guys.
