Chigger is definately female. Chigger= small, kinda gets under your skin, and can be a real source of irritation...

I have two tractors, a 1948 8N and a 1952 8N. My 48 is a female, as I have spent over $5k fixing her up since I got her, and it is never enough - there is ALWAYS one more problem that pops up and needs to be fixed! She is never satisfied. My 52 model is a male, had so many rigged up fixes on it, had an exhaust valve that wasn't even close to seating, coal black oil, water in the tranny fluid, and generally beat up when I got it. It always fired right up and worked hard until done, without complaint. Of course he is better now that I have had him awhile, fixed the exhaust valve, changed the oil and hydraulic fluid, cleaned him up and gave him a paint job (spray paint...), replaced the bowed radius arms, replaced the welded upper hydraulic arm. Works even better than when I got him, but doesn't look anywhere as nice as my 48.

Good luck,
Dan

My 2N's male. Starts right up, every time. never gives me a lick of grief. Just the normal maintenance that is to be expected. Oil, filter, grease, and points and condenser once in a while.

I wish my wife and daughters worked as hard on as little!
