Hi long time lurker first time poster. This board is great, no where else could one go to get this much advice. My problem I have a 48 8n front mount. Is there anyway that oil could get into the radiator? I'm not talking a thin sheen, but giant globs of blackish gray goop. I was boxblading yesterday and I shut down for the night and heard the radiator gurgling so I popped the cap to take a look. out came these big globs about the consitency of honey or molasses. I know I,m way past due for a rebuild but that will have to wait. Burns a bit of oil but not a mosquito fogger has some blowby but not terrible and a valve that sticks occaisonally.

Hey Power, The other guys are right head gasket, about ten bucks and pretty simple job. The low pressure cooling system allows the higher pressure of the oil system to go the other way, good luck!

I agree with the others.. possible/probably blown head gasket.

Also.. a realitively small amount of oil ( really combustion by-products ) will emulsify and entrap/entrain a large amount of water.

Just look at milk... small amount of milkfat.. a small amount of solids.. and a gallon of water.

Hi Power,

Others here are more qualified to answer your question than I am, but your described symptoms indicate a blown head gasket. Is there water in the oil? HTH. (Hope this helps) Rick H. Ga.

A blown head gasket will let oil into your radiator. It is a very easy job to do and relatively inexpensive. If possible, take compression readings before and after to verify you sealed it up. On your "brfore" reading, you will probably see two cylinders side by side that have much lower compression then the other two.

Good luck,
Dan
