It has been awhile since I have had active participation on this board, but I do check it occasionally to keep up with the latest.

Well, I dun it again but this time I'm transitioning into a new area.

I purchased a 1930 Model AA Tractor truck. The 30AA has a set of Arps tracks on it (or similar brand) and bogey wheels. The tracks go around the 20 inch truck tires. And it has a rear mounted tripod type manual winch on the bed and cable that was used for skidding logs. The seller threw in two spare tires, original front mounted V plow for snowplowing, original fenders etc. It has a cracked windshield, missing the original bumper, and the tank needs repalcement or sealing...but it is ion overall good mechanical condition. All of the front hood and cab components are in place. Oh, I'm sure there will be a lot of work reqwired to get it into fine fine shape...but it will be a long term restoration. I want to restore it for winter use and keep the tracks and plow on it. I'm picking it up on Saturday and when I get this rusty beast home I'll try to take some picutres and see if I can post them here.

Tom ps. I have the history of the truck too...will write in another message with pictures.

The funy thing about it...I told Karen the next morning we got a plow. She had to coax it out of me that the plow was mounted on a frame, and the frame had 4 wheels, and it was an enclosed cab, and it was made in 1930. After 25 minutes of dancing around,....she figured out we were getting a Model A pickup truck with a plow and winch. Well, I had best get going and try to explain to her we need another shed built...ooops forgot...I better finish the house first! 9N'er

Good to hear form you again. I've always admire those Ford AA's. There's a stake body version close to me sitting in a field, I may be able to buy it for you cheap if you need anything. If I know you, you will do it right. Here's a good website for you.....check it out.

as always,
Take Care
Steve

Hi Steve. Thank you for your note. Yes I am interested in that stake side AA truck nearby you. Can you e-mail me and I can give you my phone number? I'll have to save up for it, and see about getting over your way to pick it up. But, I would be tickled to near death if I could ever complete and do a halfway decent Model AA truck restoration project. I think this will be a fun one...but they all are...

Someday, if I can evre figure out how to send pictures to this site, I will send a picture of the Ford tractors I've restored.

I have to say the 61 841-S Elenco was the crowning achievement in learning about Ford tractors and restoring one that has some collectable value. Now it's sitting a long way from New Hampshire and in Texas

But this 59 871 SOS I have now has been a real nice tractor and smooth workhorse. It runs so smoooth, and shifts so well, and the sheetmetal when I receieved it, was in the best overall shape of any tractor so far.

I have to give Ford a lot of credit for producing quality and dependable tractors. I am amazed everyday I use it.

Thanks again.

Tom

Hey Stumpy...

I'm in Gorham, NH (actually Shelburne, NH) just about 10 miles south of Berlin, NH...within eyesight of Mount Washington.

Come up or stop by sometime if you are ever in the area! tom
