3pt hydro question

What would cause the 3pt to NOT raise a load when at idle or at a lower throttle setting? It only raises a load when at a higher throttle? When I was mowing today I got bogged down in thick grass and tried to raise the mower, but it wouldn't unless I put the tractor in neutral and opened up the throttle. So when I finished I tried to just raise the mower at low throttle setting and it would not raise until I raised the throttle.
I just had the pump replaced, could this be a leak somewhere else?
Thanks Rick.

See the link below for information on trouble shooting the N lift.

You have that new pump so you figure the relief valve is good but you need to take a look see. Remove one of the inspection plates and watch for a leak. Maybe you have that light 134C hydraulic/tranny fluid. If you go with a heavier fluid it probably won't leak so fast past a worn or out of spec piston/cylinder. You can go to the heavy 80-90W gear oil TSC sells for 'older Ford tractors.' I believe that's the GL-1 spec. In any case, the current 8N manual (SE3729-52-C) calls out a mild E.P. Gear oil; Ford spec M-4864-A & B, SAE 90 (above freezing) and SAE 80 (below freezing). If I remember right, that's the GL-3 spec.
I've heard that 134C stuff is 20W and will leak past rings and other worn parts real fast. It's a dollar+ a gallon cheaper than the rest though.

Hmm sounds like a cracked pump housing, could be something else, Im no pro . Im living with the same problem , wont lift 500 lbs discs when hot . I just shut it down and go at it the next day when it cools down ,I replaced old piston with a new NAA not much help , ( yea I honed it out good ) Stp oil treatment thickins things up a bit for more lift time, dont tell any one on this board or I will get discombuberated .

Pull a side inspection cover and look for leaks at the lift cylinder mouth, or the standpipe.. or even swirls inthe oil ( relief valve ).
