Called to an 8N scene toady. Lady was mowing empty lot in town. Hit bump, fell between 8N & rotary mower. Dragged hundreds of feet through tall grass screaming before tractor ran up & over a downed pole and became lodged there. She died at the scene. Don't ever let any body ride along, hang on, and pay attention!

Just about had that happen a couple weeks ago. I have a squirrel feeder on a tree that has a gallon glass jar on it and very close to that a clothes line stretched from tree to tree for a bird feeder. Came a whippin' through that area looking back over my right shoulder to make sure the finish mower cleared the other trees and gourded myself on the squirrel feeder and dang near knocked me off the tractor. Just as I uprighted myself I "clothes-lined" myself literally and about went over again. I've mowed that several times before and I guess I was just taking for granted that I wouldn't hit it.
I was lucky all I got out of it was a knot on the punkin'and a stiff neck. Scares the B'Jesus out of me to think of the alternative.

Falling out of the seat and getting run over is everyone's nightmare no doubt. And reports like these are reminders to take nothing for granted when it comes to safety.

A few years ago one of my old girl friends from before I was married son in law was bush hogging with his 5 year old daughter on the fender and hit an obstical and threw her off and under the bush hog. Cut her left leg off at the hip and buttocks. Also penetrated her bowel and bladder etc. She recovered good and can run and play with the other kids now about three years or so later but it was a tragic and un necessary thing to happen. Never allow a child or adult to ride a tractor if there is not a seat provided for the rider. Better safe than sorry.

Very, very sorry to hear of such a miss hap, Im thinking thats why newer tractors have the " dead man seat" It shuts off the engine if the driver falls off, Ive never had that happen to me in 50 years of tractor driving, guess in lucky, lets pray for the lady who lost her life along with her family and friends .

I just had that happen on my Grasshopper zero steer mower. Previous owner had bypassed the seat switch. I'm damned lucky I wasn't hurt when i got thrown.
