I have read recent posts here about box Blades, Box Graders. I have a back blade and scoop for my 8N and wonder if a box blade / grader might be a useful additional tool.
So- I wonder if anyone has a picture, drawing or good description of one that would help me. In addition does anyone have a ball park estimate of cost for a "decent one"
many thanks
AL

I bought a 5' King Kutter box blade from Farm Fleet last year and am well satisfied with it. I think the cost was around $300 on sale. I used it on a TO 20 Ferguson and moved a lot of dirt mixed with large rocks and it really took a beating. I actually moved a ditch about 50'to one side, and it was so steep when I started that I could barely get the tractor down there. I just kept chipping away at it and some of the rocks were so large that I couldn't lift them. Another tool that really works great for the final smoothing is a 7' King Kutter landscape rake which also cost about $300

You might want to check out home made land leveler. Go to my web site and then to my photo album. Click on equipment. This works very well on rocks and loose dirt.

I have a nice old Dearborn blade which I keep just because it's from the era of our tractors. But, last year I bought a 5' box with rippers and I love. It beats the heck out of the Dearborn Blade.

Al: around here we call them roll-over box blades which is exactly what they do. I recently bought a four footer in excellent shape for $300. They are not easy to find because they are so versatile. Get one with spikes if you can. It will round out your dirt moving capabilities very well.

Yes it would be a worth while purchase. They go for about $300 for a 5 footer to $350 for a 6 footer around here (NC)
