I recently purchased a new PTO drive for my 8n tractor. The shaft has been leaking fluid around the housing. I removed the four mounting bolts and pulled the shaft back about 4" where it felt like it locked in place. I could not remove it. I could push the shaft back and lock it down with the bolts.

Any thoughts on how to completely remove the shaft. I was told is was easy as undoing the bolts and pulling it out.

Sounds like it's twisted, that would ruin a seal and make it leak.
You might be able to loosen all the pump mounting bolts, letting it move around some, and turn the shaft as you pull to get it out. Not sure.
Anyway, when you get the new shaft in there those pump bolts should be loose and you should turn the shaft a few revolutions to square everything up. Then tighten the pump mounting bolts.

The bolts that hold the pump to the bottom of the tractor. The pump is just under the seat, more or less. Lean over and look up from underneath. Must be 10...12 bolts.

Sounds like it may be twisted. Pull the cover and take a look.
