Hello group I ordered new spider gear washers for my 8N the washers came from Dennis Carpenter but I noticed that they are a bit smaller and made of brass or copper ? and not as thick the ones I am replacing are of a polished plated type and are thicker
has any of you replaced with this new type does it matter or do I not worry about it.

Depends on the spider gear. Looks like the 79-4230-F washer goes with, what must be, the original gear and the 7RT-4230 washer goes with the 7RT-4215 replacement gear.
Anyway, there's different washer for different gears and you need to track it down to end up with the correct washer. Do you have any part numbers for what you have in your hand?

I received part # 79-4230 from Carpenter
but like I said they are not as thick and a bit smaller in size the hole in the center is the same as the old ones .

Your New Holland dealer should have or be able to get the 7RT-4230 washer.

They stopped using the 79-4230 sometime in 1948. It doesn't show any serial numbers in the parts book. They went to a different washer and gear. Good chance you need the 79-4230-F washer but you might be looking for the 7RT-4230 washer, not sure.
