Ring gear was bad on original flywheel out of 8n I'm rebuilding. Had a second flywheel from parts pile with good ring gear, but clutch side of flywheel is pitted in several spots some as deep as 4-5 thousands. Is this going to cause a problem with clutch grab or undue wear on clutch plate? Thanks for your advice.

Problem is not the ring gear; problem is pitting on the flywheel.

If the bolts that hold the pressure plate on have a shoulder make sure they do not bottom out before they tighen the cover down. Lay the pressure plate on the flywheel and check. Do not use a air wrench on these bolts. If they do hit the shoulder or botton out you can add a washer.

Have the flywheel resurfaced, if you want to use it.
