Hi All,

I had a good momentum going on my Jubilee project tractor until I got another project. I acquired a 1984 Chevy pick-up truck with a 400+ HP high performance 350 engine. All I wanted was an old pick-up truck to use around my farm so I don't scratch up my Silverado. I purchased the truck from my brother-in-law who bought the engine that is in the truck from my son who is in to hot-rods.

I never thought I would own a hot-rod pick-up truck. The engine and transmission in the truck are in excellent condition with few miles on them; however, the rest of the truck needs a lot of attention. Since I have had it I have replaced the power window motor in the drivers side window, replaced the vent window on the drivers side, replaced the A/C lines and charged the A/C, and adjusted the door latches. The paint cleaned up OK with a good polishing compound. It needs tires and a couple of head lights. Other than needing a lot of little things, it is fairly good condition to be a 1984 model. My brother-in-law bought it new in 1984.

On the Jubilee, the machine shop has the crank and the head. I've got the trans. housing and rear-end housing ready to mate back together from replacing the broken gears in the trans. I've got the sheet metal in pretty good shape but plan on doing a little more finishing before painting. I've got the front axels rebuilt and a new king-pin bushing installed.

I suppose it is OK to have more than one project going at a time if you have the time and the money (which I am lacking in both areas.:-) Rick H. Ga.

Gaaahhhh!!!

1950 8N - engine rebuilt, working on stripping paint from tractor to respray

Then there's the implements for the tractor that need attention too...

1969 F100 - donor engine apart, awaiting machining and rebuild; truck needs repainting

1951 International L-170 - needs rewiring, repainting, brakes and probably a bunch of other stuff, too

1962 Volkswagen Beetle - disassembled, one floor pan in, need to do the other before stripping, paint and reassembly

1916 Nieuport 11 replica - WWI biplane I'm building in my "spare" time

Oh, and we're renovating the 80 y.o. farm house, too.

No shortage of projects over here!

At least two projects at once as a rule, never just one. As much as I say I hate chaos I seem to thrive on it. I must, otherwise I wouldn't create so much of it. Sounds like a fun and useful distraction. Just make sure you don't make the truck so nice that you have to buy another one to keep from scratching this one. Have fun, Eric

I MIGHT be able to feed a 1942 Chevy truck 200+ HP half fast performance 175 cid V-4 engine. But the wife is already jealous of all the "presents" the tractor is getting. I'd really be in trouble if I started in on something else. At least until she sees how purty the tractor's gonna look.
