MY 8n will start right up every time, run for about

If it isn't burning points, try checking gas past the float needle. Might be running out of gas in the carb bowl due to some debri.

My guess, condenser or gas flow. Leaning towards condenser. Good luck!! I used to throw in new points, condenser, and plugs twice a year just like my 67's chevs. Craig

Common wisdom on 30-seconds and quit is bad condenser. Good reason to install new points and condenser. Take a hard look at everything in that distributor for broke, wear and tear.
You might pull a plug wire before you run her next time and crank it and watch see what the spark looks like. Screwdriver stuck up the boot and the shank held near a bolt or something. Put the boot back on, run the tractor and when if quits jump off and check the spark like that again. See if you have a spark.

I replace the front-mount a couple years ago when the stud broke off the top. My 8N has a round can that might well have been put on there in 1951. The can is rusty and the paint near all gone now. That tractor was stored since the late '60's and I've ran it only about 450 hours. I should paint that distributor along with the radiator cap and seat I suppose.
How 'bout you?

Just this last couple of weeks, I have replaced both the sidenmount OEM 6v coils on my 8n and NAA.

Both were werking, but I damaged them trying to add new wiring. The new coils seem to be putting out way more KV.. glad I 'upgraded'.

If the condensor is shorted.. , or is shorting out.. that can stall the machine. If it is opening.. it should burn the points pretty quick.. so should be obvious when it is opend up.

good luck
