I spent Saturday afternoon rewiring my NAA with a harness I bought from my friendly FNH dealer. Everything fit great. Tractor started right up. Generator is charging the battery. But I have a wire left over. Cannot figure out where that bugger goes. If it helps any, it's about a foot long, red, has a L boot on one end and a straight boot on the other end.

3 for the generator, 1 for the coil, 1 for the starter selenoid that goes through the ammeter, and 1 left over. I thought maybe it went to the starter safety switch, but it won't reach. I rewired because the guy tghat owned it before me had quite a few extra wires and I got tired of looking at them.

There's an NAA 6 volt wiring diagram at the Vintage Ford Tractor Resource that isn't easy to see due to some bad html on the "Electrical" page that references it.

Direct link to the image:

That's the diagram I'm using. Maybe it is lights. I have headlights, they've never worked and I've never really thought about it because I don't ever plan on using the tractor after dark. Now I'll have to get a switch and hook them up just to see if that's what the extra wire is for.

Don't know about the color, but my guess would be it's for the headlight switch (if you have one); it runs from the terminal block.
