Hello, I found on Ebay an old rusted pair of the original 8N "Trac-to-lite" headlights and I bought them. While disassembling them I noticed that they had a rubber gasket seal around the bulb. It's between the bulb and the headlight housing flange. I guess it was to keep the bulb from moving and to keep water out? Have any of you ever seen this before? I was told that originally the headlights didn't have a rubber seal but this light has one. I'm stumped? This part really looks like it was made or molded to fit perfectly. Any thoughts? Ideas?

Thanks,
T

Sounds like you're talking about the socket. Might be a replacement socket that came with the boot. Those tin sockets get old and corroded and need replaced now and again so it wouldn't be surprising to see an old fixture with an upgraded or aftermarket socket.
