Can someone explain or show me the difference between the NAA govenor and the govenor off a 9n? On my 9n when I disassembled the govenor I found that it has 3/4" balls instead of 5/8" balls. Is this a govenor off a NAA? What exactly is a NAA? Now the kit I bought is wrong, the lower race as a radial bearing on it instead of a thrust bearing and it won't work in my assembly. What is the part number for the correct assembly for my govenor? Please help!

Al..... ....the N-Governor has (4 ea) 5/8" balls, the NAA governor has (6 ea) 3/4" balls. It is quite possible that the previous owner/shadetree mechanic might have subsituted larger balls to make-up for worn governor races, instead of rebuilding it correctly. You never know. The complete NAA's governor is NOT INTERCHANGEABLE with the flathead N's governor..... ...Dell

Looking thru the archives.. it looks like there were different aftermarket gov's available that fit the N engine.

Also, Is your 9n engine oem.. or is it an industrial unit?

You could have the balls from a NAA. The part number for the N balls is 358081-S, and the part number for the NAA balls is 18229. The NAA governor will not fit an N.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe a Jubilee has an overhead valve engine, completely different from your 9N. Did you buy the wrong kit?

Take Care

An NAA is the 1953/1954 sucessor of the 8n.. it was dubbed the 'golden jubilee' for 1953 for fords aniversery.. It is also the last of the single tractor series years.. and last 'N' tractor.. hundred series was 1955 and up..

Here's a pic of my 54 NAA
