Jubilee carb question

I’m coming along fairly well with the Jubilee project I am working on, although it is a slow process. I’ve almost got the engine put back together after a crank regrind, valve kit and re-ring. I’m planning on putting a repair kit in the lift cover before I put it back on.

I have a question regarding the carburetor. It was in pretty rough shape on the inside. After cleaning it up real good I’ve noticed a lot of pitting on the inside walls of the lower bowl. Is this a major problem? The little main jet brass seat in the bottom seems OK but there is a lot of pitting around the area near the main jet seat. I have cleaned it up good and blown out all the small passageways with compressed air but the pitting concerns me. I have not installed a rebuild kit yet but am planning on using the comprehensive carburetor overhaul kit.

The project is still a long way from completion but is a work in progress.

Any and all advice/opinions appreciated. Thanks. Rick H. GA.

Rick..... ...the pitting is a natural process caused by water in the gasoline. Me? Unless there were still chunks of rust, I wouldn't worry about it. Iff'n it was still rusty, I'd sandpaper/polish the area and clean it good and continue the rebuild..... ...Dell
