Draw Bar

Right now I have my draw bar off since I have a blade on for snow plowing...with the draw bar on it gets in the way and I can't spin the blade around.

The draw bar is attached by a pin that seems to have a spring load on it, this is located under the rear x... I am surprised that the pin has not come out on me when it is in...what do you think about drilling a hole in the head of the pin and cabeling it to the N in some manner? Or should I just make sure I have a good spring on the pin.

Thanks.

Sal, if the pin drops far enough below the hole. you could just drill a hole in it and put a keeper pin in it like the ones used on trailer hitches. They come in all sizes. 1/8" would be plenty large.

That's what I was thinking. The pin has a about 1/2"-5/8" head to it...about 1/4 the thickness of the dia. of the pin...looks a bit like a thumb screw end...put it in the drill press and set the hole...since there is no collar to it I can chain it to the underside of the N.

Thanks

My drawbar uses a lynch pin to hold it in and I never worry about it coming out. Also, I have several position holes in the drawbar and I use one that puts it far enough in so that it only gets in the way of things that use the PTO. I can spin my 6 foot Ford backblade 360 degrees with the drawbar in place. The only drawback to putting the drawbar in that far is that in reeaally hard backing up turns I can hit the trailer tongue with the tires. However, this is somewhere near the 90 degree point and rarely a problem-but a real suprise when it does!

I don't see anyway to hook a lynch pin in there, wasn't desgned that way.

Even if the draw bar is shortened up all the way my 7' blade still hits.

I am still thinking about drilling a hole and adding a chain/cable for security.

Thanks
