Hi guys, New 8n owner ,new 5 ft. bush hog .My lift seems to operate to low on the touch contol quadrant. When I mow I am only using about the top 2 inches of the quadrant. This makes it tricky to feather the lift to raise the front of the mower .My lift seems to be working o.k. otherwise but it is bleeding off in less than 4 minutes with mower attached .Any thoughts ??? Thanks in advance, this forum is coool !!! apreshe8it

The internals of the lift mechanism may be worn and misadjusted. This is not particularly serious and you can fix it with a manual and help from this board. Until you are ready to do this, you might get some help by a simple adjustment of the quadrant support plate which bolts the quadrant to the tractor and is just aft of the the little position/draft control lever. Loosen the 4 bolts and tap the plate forward or back. Tighten bolts and try your big quadrant lever to see if that helps. Continue adjustment as desired. Good luck. Steve 8N 169302

Thanks for the info gentlemen,I have tried the draft control thing, seems to put my lift into slow motion and there are way to many rocks ect. to wait on it.I thought about the quad' adjment I didn"t know how far I could move it safley, I would like to get about 20 deg. more on the top side if possible. thanks again ,Roy

The 8N is equipped with both draft control for ground engaging implements like plows and position control for most everything else like your bush hog. Your lift sounds like it's operating in the draft control mode. If you look dirctly below the right hand side of the seat, you'll see a little three inch long lever. It has two positions - straight up for position control and horizontal forward for draft control. Yours is most likely in the latter position. Try flipping it up and see how the lift reacts.
