Ford is the feature tracor at the Tri-State gas engine and tractor show in Portland, Indiana. There were 3 prototypes there. Worth the trip if you are close by. Philip. 1938 Ford N prototype, purchased in 1984 from Henry Ford Museum, 1st time shown since then.

Wish I could have been at the show, it is one of my favorites along with the swap meet.
Very interesting pictures. What I don't see is the hitch set-up. Were these early Ford experimnets BEFORE Harry Ferguson came on the scene with his 3 point system?
The prototype with a Fergie system is still at "The Henry Ford" (new official name for the museum).

I like the gray and blue prototype. It's as cute as a bug's ear. They should have called it something like the "9Njr".

Here is the sign that was posted on the yellow tractor. The blue and grey one had a flat (four?) engine. Philip.

What is this yellow one? I thought the blue/gray one was the '38 prototype? I really like this yellow one. You can really see the inspiration for the hood and front end as well as some other similarities. Also, the blue/gray one had an air-cooled flat 4 engine if I remember correctly.

That last one reminds me a lot of the current New Holland utility tractors!
