What can a boom pole do that a Dearborn loader with forks or a bucket can't? The posting of the boom pole caught my attention, and then I saw the other brands for much less cost and it sparked a bunch of questions. Here they are...all three questions: 1. What is the safe lift capacity of an 8N/9N using a boom pole (assuming no front counterweight on the tractor? 2. what would the advantage be of owning a boom pole for landscape work if I already have a Dearborn loader with forks and a bucket on an 850. Would it be worth my while to consider a boom pole for the 9N? I have tons of landscaping and building projects to start and in the works.

3. Do those other brands have decent quality for light landscaping?

I'll think of more, but these are off the top of my head. thanks. 9N'er

We were doing a project in school about the Australian sheep stations and i wanted to know some questions...How do station managers provide enough water for their animals?

How do people living on a station communicate with the outside world?

Thanx itd be great if u got back as soon as possible!

Due to the law of the lever, the amount of weight you can pick up with a boom pole will depend on where it's attached to the pole; out on the end or up close to the tractor. The farther out on the pole you go the sooner the front tires are going to leave the ground. As for exact weights, I'm not sure. My 850 starts pointing to the stars with about 1200 lbs on my 3pt pallet forks.

If you are going to use a boom pole on the 9N you really do need one of my ZANE THANG position control units. I think it would be kinda dangerous to use a boom pole on the 9N or 2N without one because you never know if the lift is going to go up or down with no position control.

I was told early on that the proper name for a boompole was "backsaver". (grin)

For $50 & 50#, eazy-on-eazy-off 3-point hitch, you can sure move and lift a lot of things.

Of course, if you want to and can afford a front end loader, thats o.k. too..... ..Dell

Tom, they are different animals, kinda like comparing Coors Light with Drambuie(sp) and Scotch.

Sure, you can remove rebared concrete posts with your loader, but you can do it with lots less mess using a boom pole. And you can load equipment on to pick up bed with a loader, but a boom pole is generally more gentle. Course I aint gonna try and figure out how to haul a load of snow or gravel with a boom pole. But they do come in handy. Yes Dave, it is Friday nite. FWIW

Not sure I want to subject myself to the future abuse, but for the fun of it you're on. I'll work on it.

9ner, I got a boom pole for my 9, and I have used it to lift and move engines, railroad ties, and other stuff around the place, but I don't know where it would compare to a loader? Maybe I have blinders on, but light from other tunnels is always welcome. P.S. the whimpster is dynomite! hope mine looks as good some day.
