This positive ground stuff cofuses me, and I'm an electrician. At least 12,000 volts plays by the rules. I have a new cut-out relay, and a new ammeter ( it was reasonable and I live a long way from the parts dept.).I'm going to install them in the A.M., and just want to make sure my connections are right. Here's the way I see it from my manual: The wire from the generator connects to the winding of the cut-out relay, the other terminal of the cut-out relay connects to the (+) side of my ammeter. The (-) terminal of my ammeter connects to the (-) post of by battery. Please let me know if I have the (+) and (-) correct. At $60.00 a pop to rebuild the generator I want to make sure. Thanks in advance.

Best Regards!!!!

I think you have it all right except for the Plus and minus markings on the ammeter. I don't recall an ammeter having a plus and minus marked on it.

What ever, If it deflects the needle toward the minus when the engine is revved then you have the wires to the ammeter reversed and you should exchange them so that when the needle is deflected it will go toward the plus side of the ammeter.

I have had 12 volts on my tractor for at least 35 years and never did change the wires on the ammeter and it deflects the needle to the minus side but I know it is charging just the same. I may change it someday but am in not hurry. :o)
