I hear about the high prices for tractor parts but things are getting good I think. Old NAA threw a fan belt so I go into NAPA to get a new one. About 8 dollars for a new one and they threw in a ball cap with the store name on it and another No 15 Waltrip ball cap. Hum! wonder if they felt sorry for me.

Do you know that you have just purchased your LAST belt from NAPA? When that belt is worn out or broken, if you can still see NAPA on it, NAPA will replace it for FREE. They just replaces a belt that had on my Model A.

That's interesting, especially considering tht the guy at NAPA looked the old belt over real good and said that it may have been orignal equipment. Now if this one last 50 years. Naw that's wishful thinkin. Is free replacement true on all their belts? If so I will be goin there for mower belts. Thanks for the heads up.

We all wait for the local NAPA's counter day. Just about every Thursday they have some vendor introducing a new product line. FREE stuff. Hats, Tee-Shirts, breakfast, etc. I take notice that the local owner of the NAPA store just put his house up for sale. O'Reilly is supposed to be purchasing the Fisher Auto Parts Stores. That sure will make a lot of competition for the local NAPA store.

On Wednesdays, one of the local plumbing supply distributors has free lunches. So, most eat their lunch on the way to LOWES.

On Tuesdays, a refrigeration supply house about 20 miles away has their counter days along with grilled hot dogs and hambergurers. Most of us eat our lunch and and go next door to GRAINGERS where they offer FREON much cheaper.

So Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays we make our purchases.

With our "Local" mom and pop vendors, I try to spend as much as I can afford with them I try to purchase from them the items that will produce for them the highest PROFIT for what they have invested. After all, we all must pay the same COUNTY school taxes.

I only spend the minimum amount with outfits like Lowes, Graingers as possible. Generally, though, these outfits will offer a special on things that they have found to be "slow-moving", little profit items" to make space for items that will be in greater demand. For instance, there is little profit for a grocery store in their PRODUCE isles. Their greatest profit items are "SUNDRIES", like razor blades, shampoo, etc. These items are known as "RACK ITEMS". I purchase one pack of razor blades about every 5 yrs. or so. I was trained to resharpen the old GILLETTE blades when I was 5 yrs. old. I watched my dad.

Hope this explains, things. John,PA

Congrats! I know the Mgr of the local Home Depot and can't get him to throw in anything from Tony Stewart. We don't have NAPA in SW Missouri, and just a hint of autozone. This is where O'reilly started back in 1966, so you better be looking for a shamrock or you're not gonna find quite as many auto parts. I did get a belt for a Hydrostatic drive riding mower at O'reilly the other day for $13.00, one of the good greed HD ones.

We have a great NH dealer here in town, S&H Farm Supply. They have a great outdoor museum aka used tractor lot
