Hi All,

My Jubilee project is coming along OK but ever so slowly. This weekend I disassembled the lift cover hydraulic cylinder to clean it up and put a repair kit in it. It looks like I’m going to need a new piston to go with the new O-ring and leather back-up washer. It has the old “A” type piston and the O-ring and washer were completely missing. The FO-19 manual says to replace the piston with the newer “B” type as the O-ring and back-up washer may be damaged again using the old type piston. The cylinder bore was not in bad shape and I was able to hone it good so it should be good to go.

It has the older style unloading valve without the O-ring. I took it and the control valve out and cleaned them up good per Zane’s instructions I read in the archives. I have read that the newer replacements are expensive and I’ll wait and see how the lift works before I invest more money in it. The bypass check valve and safety relief valve seem to be OK. The steel ball and seat needed cleaning up but I believe they will be OK (time will tell).

I got the wallowed out bushing hole in the flywheel bored out and installed the newer ball-bearing type pilot bearing.

I will be refurbishing the distributor next. Then, completing the rebuild on the carburetor. So far I have done a lot of work and spent more than what I paid for it in parts and machine work. I guess the best part of all is that I have enjoyed tinkering with.

So far so good… Thanks for listening.

Rick, Your post reads like you're waiting for a new piston before you reassamble. As you are finishing up your work on the lift cover, do you have to special tools to adjust it or will you just follow the FO-19 manual instructions for no tools? You didn't mention the 'cam follower pin'. Did you check it? The FO-19 manual is kinda hard to follow for re-doing the hyraulics, isn't it? I went through it several times and numbered the paragraphs in the order I needed so that I wouldn't forget something. Good luck on your overhaul. Steve NAA III443

The cam follower pin looks like it has been replaced at some piont in the past. It has little or no ware on it. As far as the adjustments are concerned, I haven't checked them yet but I plan on it. Thanks. Rick H. GA.
