Today while I was putting the 2, 1 ohm resisters in the wire to the coil on my 47 2N I turned the key on to check the volts to the coil. After getting 8.16 volts I decided to crank it up. It never cranked so good IN GEAR! Lucky it was still chained down on my trailor and didn't hurt me or get away. Yes I use a button on the dash. I believe I will fix the interlock starter switch now.

Yep, been there....pretty interesting feeling having those tire lugs grabbing at your a** while trying to reach the kill switch. I ordered the correct parts the next day.

Kinda scary ain"t it. My Jubilee has the starter button moved to the dash. I haven"t changed it back yet. Started the darn thing in the tractor shed the other day with it in gear and had to jump up on the running board and stomp the clutch. I gotta fix that before it gets me.
Later, Lee

In the field with a bush hog attached and the PTO in gear could have been a messy disaster. First the tire pins you to the ground and then the bush hog grinds you into a million pieces. Scary. Kids also like to push buttons to see what happens. They also watch adults to learn. The seat is the best place to be when starting. Be careful.

I shouldn"t admit this but, my 3000 has the interlock bypassed. I frequently have to start it from the ground. I ALWAYS reach for the gear shift lever FIRST and give it a good shake to be absolutly sure it is in neutral. Habit formed after having tried to start it with it in gear - didn"t start and the movement of the wheels was enough toscare me, even though it was in first gear.

Safety is often a matter of forming good habits around dangerious machinery. Like, I ALWAYS put on my gloves when I am hooking up implements. Just the spring loaded ring on the linch pin hurts and can pinch a finger bloody, but hurts a lot less through the glove. And there a lots of other things that can cut and pinch even worse when hooking up.

Regards,
Larry

A friend of mine bypassed his and then one day he ran out of gas on the road. He walked home and got some gas and the car. After he gassed it up he hit the starter and put a serious dent in his car.
