The lift arm pin is loose and wobbles on the right hand axle trumpet. I have tried tightening it up to no avail. The bolt that is beside it seems stripped. Are these pins threaded on the end that goes into the trumpet, and if so, how do I get this mess apart? It is dripping oil slightly and I'd like to get it fixed before it goes any further. Thanks in advance for your help.

You will not need to disasemble the left trumpit, unbolt it from the axle housing and remove it as a assy. A engine crane comes in handy for this, watch out fer the rear end (Differential) it could fall out, the axle trumpit is what holds it in, its not a bad job and then ya can get to either pin.

Can I pull the cover off of the top and get to the pins that way, or is there too much in the way? I need to pull the cover off anyway to replace the piston and seals and just wonder if I could get both at the same time.

Sharpie..... ...NO, you can't access the differential chamber by removing the hydraulic lift top. While the 5 gals of hydraulic fluid lubricates both the tranny and the differential thru the hydraulic chamber, you can't gitt tharr from tharr. And while you might get a small skinny child's arm thru the PTO shaft hole, they ain't gonnna haff the muscle to pull 150 ft/lbs on the castelated nut. BYTE the BULLETT, pull the axle trumpet like we told you..... ...respectfully, Dell

I didn't figure I could, but thought I'd ask. I'll pull the axle trumpet and the lift cover, since both need done anyway. Thanks for all the help.

Sharps, right-hand side you might be able to get to by pulling the PTO shaft and some tricky wrench work to get the cotter pin out and new one re-installed. I know a guy that just did this on his 8N and it got it done that way, but did say his hand was a little too big to reach thru the PTO hole but was able to use extensions to reach it. Easier than pulling axel/trumpet/etc. Can only get to the right one this way, bullgear blocks the left-side.

I believe you have to go in from the LEFT side to get to the right pin..

Asharps..... ....we get this question all the time. The lower link pins are held in by a cotterkeyed castelated nut torqued to 150 ft/lbs. Access is by removing your rear axle trumpet. See your own personal copy of the I&T FO-4 manual for trumpet R&R procedure..... ....respectfully, Dell

Thanks, Dell. I should be able able to fix it, but I sure had hoped it wouldn't be so hard to fix. Oh, well, it needs done, so it's off to work I go.
