Power just came back on for me. I just went out and took a look at the animals. So far.. looks like no livestock losses.

A 10x16 section of my pole barn lost it's tin, and the center outside support fell in, the two outer supports are still up. I think when the wind goes away, I can brace it up with some 2x4 and re-tin it.

NAA was further up in the pole building so it is ok. 8n has a bunch of purloins and tin setting on it. Looks like noting other than dent and paint damage so far.. other than it's ignition is probably soaked.

Gotta go.. will report back later. Anyone heard from the guys on the coast? or more inland?

I live in Brevard county, on the mainland. I suffered no damage. Some neighbors lost shingles, and a few gable ends were blown out. Some had trees fall on their houses/yards. Up on the main drag (US1) most traffic lights are blown down, as well as store signs. I haven't made it beachside yet, but I understand it's not pretty. I went in to work today at the space center, and all looks pretty good out there. The Vehicle Assembly Building lost some siding.

Stay tuned, more hurricane fun coming our way with Ivan. (Those of you that have your shutters up might want to leave them in place for a few days!)

souNdguy,
Was watchin" the news last night. One boat owner pulled his boat out of the water..... . and a tree fell on it. He laughed about it, so he has things in perspective.

Found out why I double posted. If I hit the back button too many times and it goes back to the "message posted" page, the computer says, "OK, think I will."

Most of my family never moved from Florida as I and my brother did. I talked with my 84 yr old mother in Orlando who took it all in stride. She has never left her home for a hurricane. But she and the rest of the family are always well prepared. Most fla. crackers are battle hardened to the weather. Still it looks like everyone in Fla. dodged a giant bullet.

Good to hear you got minimal damage and everyone is OK. Now we've all got our eyes on Ivan for you. They're not giving you much of a break this year. Keep safe. Eric

Glad to hear you made it ok w/ but little property damage. My cousin & his family in Ft Pierce did well also; no power & none expected for some time, so they are on the generator. He has been in FL for about 25 years, so he has seen a few hurricanes.

SouNguy. Barns and tractors and other physical things can be repaired. The most important thing is that you and your family came through it OK. Great. Stay safe. Ron
