i recently purchased an 8n, which has a lot of play in the front axle, so i will be replacing the axle pin bushing and possibly the axle pin.
i also notice a lot of in out play from the radius rod where it enters the radius rod socket/cap.
i am assuming this is not normal. short of purchasing new radius rods and or socket/bushings, how do i determine if the wear is in the ball end of the rod or in the socket? which tends to wear first? the rod end or the socket?

Make sure the radius rods are perfectly straight. If they are, you can put a little piece of Teflon [comes in sheets, not the tape]in the socket.Teflon will work better than metal.I've even seen bottle caps and snuff can lids used.AND, if you want to replace the sockets, they are available. don

Phil..... ...don't worry about which has worn first or the most. The radius rod ball socket is NLA and I don't think you want to replace the rod ball. Most just use a "shim" of soft copper or alumnium or plastic to take up the slack. Rememeber NO LUBRICATION..... ...Dell
