Broken tractor is a good thing

Last week I posted a message about my loader wreck. The four stinger pins broke causing loss of hydraulic power to the front pump.

The new parts are here already (thanks for the offer Hobo) and while the loader was off I painted the tractor's belly, hope Ford blue is OK.

Thanks to the info on the archives I am able to fix this with confidence. I'm glad to read Dell says I can change the front pulley without removing the front support and axle. And I can put a dog leash in the sparkie hole (no clothesline rope here) to prevent the crank from turning.

Thank you all for the great advice here and to Jim Cox for the generator parts. You guys make owning an 8N a real pleasure.

Ya better have a plan "B" ready to go. There's no way you can change the front crankshaft pulley without removing the axle support. Not enough room to get it off the end of the crankshaft.

How right you are! I just figured that out. Plan B it is.

You might want to inspect your fanbelt while the loader is off. It looks easier to replace without the loader pump shaft in place.
