Just about ready to lift the engine off, and noticed that the cam shaft spins easily with my fingers, but there is end play and a clack when it moves fore and aft. The cam shaft has bushings, yes? What gives with the end play, is that normal? I figure on removing the cam and crank and turning both during rebuild...

Thanks Guys,
Ramrod

Camshaft end play on an 8N is supposed to be no more than 0.0004". Don't know about an NAA?

Ramrod, My Ford Shop Manual No. FO 19 for my NAA says the camshaft end play should be 0.003-0.007

I hope that helps.
regards,
TJ
