Ok this is the first time I've had a no start on my '49 It is electrical in nature I have just better than six volts on my $9.00 Wallyworld nondigital multimeter from the battery to the top of the coil nothing coming out of the cap. I have reset the points and cleaned every thing internally. Was running fine untill my daughter decided to wash it for me. Since then the cap and points have been out and cleaned and reset. I have stretched the pigtail so I have good contact. Can the condenser go bad from getting wet?

I had trouble getting my 47N to crank any time it rained or a heavy fog. Discovered there was a small crack on the bottom of the coil from the bent over spring that goes to the buttom on the cap . The gasket between the coil and the dist. and cap was letting it ground to the dist. Moisture in the gasket I guess. Replaced the coil and solved the problem. Now the new one is cracked in the same place but the new cork gasket is working ok.

Condensor is decently water resistant.

Ok.. you have batt votls to the top of the coil.. roll the engine around, and see if that drops to 2.5-3.5 when the points close. if it never drops.. your points aren't closing..

If it does drop, you should be getting spark, assuming the secondary of the coil is not open, and that the rotor is not damaged.. or the cap, wires and plugs.. etc.
