There was a post started back on the 10th (Friday) concerning putting a Paulson Loader on an 8N. The writer was wondering if Zane's Thang would run the loader and a couple of us had advised him (apparently incorrectly) that it was not sufficient to run the loader.

Can we get a clarification (hopefully from Zane) on the requirements to run a small loader and if the Zane Live Thang is the right tool for the job?. If so could one use the tractor hydraulics as the reservoir?

Thanks in advanced

Yes and yes.

Yes you can run a loader with the LIVE THANG system. You just tap into the pressure line to the test port and pipe it to a control valve or valves to operate the loader or for that matter any hydraulic accessorie.

Yes it does use the reservoir of the tractor just as the Paulson loader does.

See the link below for more information on my stuff.

Zane,
Do you still have to chain the lift arms down if you connect to the test port?

I'm gonna' field this one, (then pray I'm right!)

You would not need to chain down the lift arms. Chaining down the arms diverts the pressure to the Test Port. If Zane’s external pump is installed then the test port will be under pressure as long as the engine is running. However (here is where I might get myself into trouble) If you did chain down the arms you would get twice the volume of Hydraulic oil but not twice the pressure, the volume can be cumulative from two pumps but the pressure cannot.

(Now I'll duck to see if I am right)

Well.. Lots of people run a loader off the N's internal pump.. that's 2.85gpm. We know that zanes aux pump is at least that as he states it will make your twice as fast ( and live ). Assumably you could use the N's internal hud sump as well.. as long as it isn't too much oil so that it makes leaky seals leak.
