I have been lurking for a long time and post only on occasion. You guys usually have some great answears so I just keep my 2 cents to myself but I really enjoy this board and have used some of your comments on my ole 8N. I was hoping with all the great minds on here maybe I could get some advice. I am working on a 92 chev S10. The blower motor will only work on high. I figured it was the resistor out on the firewall at the blower motor but I changed it and still no luck. I replaced the switch also and still the same problem. I have checked all the plugins and all seems to be fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

that S-10 should have the resistor mounted in the air plenum between the blower and the firewall. Look for three wires ( if I remember right ) in a plug attached to a fiber circuit board. The resistors are on the inside, where the air will keep them cool.

I have had this problem with two general motors cars. Both times it has been a small black box on the firewall. Do not have in front of me but generally is mounted on top of firewall, is about two inches high, 3/4 wide, has two screws holding in place and either three or four wires coming into it. Chevrolet place told me these switches do not go bad. Could not order the switch so each time, I got one from junk yard. Man gave them to me if I took off. I cut the wires and spliced one from junk yard into my wires. Worked both times. Each time, the motor would only work on high. I had tried the first time as you did and changed switches and the resistor. Box has yellow writing on side of it. Think this will work.

Thanks, I will look for that. I did see a little silver box attached to the blower housing that resembles the size of the box you described. I will check it out. I know were theres one junked I will try to get the box from it. I appreciate your input.

I agree to check "silver box". That would be the "high fan relay". It is a SPST relay. For all speeds except "high", the relay points connect the fan motor to the resistors and fan switch. for "high", the relay switches the fan motor directly to a sparate feed from the battery. If the relay contacts are bad, it may not be switching the motor back to the "other than high" power source.
