Kinda OT Top Link Question

The top link connected to my old brush hog with a pin solid on the top frame of the hog. My new brush hog (Tuffy Brand) has a pivoting connector that attaches to the top link. What is the purposeful difference? Should the top link be tight or loose so there is plenty of pivoting movement. Would I have a negative effect if I remove the pivot and attach directly to a pin like the old one.

You're going to like that pivot. in reply to KenOK, 09-16-2004 04:37:57
A hard toplink on a hog is the pits. Use the pivot and enjoy the difference. Your tractor will like it a lot.

The pivot adds a few inches of play so the mower can conform to ground terain just a tad.

Most of the newer brush hogs are comming out either with a pivot, or an elongated hole for the toplink pin to travel in. For instance.. my 5'kk hog has the pivot, and my 10' howse hog has a 'slot' that is about 3" long that the pin rides in, instead of a fixed hole.

Many mower companies have a kit you can purchase to add that pivot on.. I know KK does... Or you could bend/drill your own. Simply make a 'U' shaped piece of metal, and drill a hole in each end for attatching it to the toplink.. and then attatch it using the predrilled holes in the top of your hogs frame, where the old toplink went. You'll find that you have to shorten your toplink a tad to use this.

Sounder,

I looks like that I might go down to Pensacola to help the lady, from whom I rent winter office space, there.

Our concern is vandelism if there are any broken windows. Looks like I can drive down between hurricanes, spend 2 days or so, plywood-up the windows, and return in time to start-up another cold storage room, here.

I will take the necessary plywood, tools, etc.

In your opinion, is looting and vandelism or any concern in your area during the aftermath of the recent hurricane?

Thanks in advance for YOUR advice! John,PA

Unless you'r in a big city.. you won't have a looting problem. I think during this whole thing.. I only saw 2 incedents on TV of looters arrested.. and it was in orlando.. etc.

Was watching our local TV this early AM. One of the newspersons on site at Pensacola Beach stated "the police force shut down and looting and vandelism was of prime concern of the local (temporary) inhabitants. The newspeople were even showing the interiors and collections of valuables on TV.

The only thing of value in the Pensacola Residence is a corner cabinet )PA cherry) that I built for my daughter. All of the rest of the inventory is replaceable. Computer, TV, radio, some yard sale furniture. However, my landlord lady is concerned about some family pieces. Florida state law prohibits me from doing anything there, unless it is for myself, or a family member. So, I donate my services for "ROOM AND BAOARD".

Thanks again, John, PA

PS: I brought the land lord up here to escape the hurricane. At least SHE IS SAFE. She feels real bad, though, because it is the first time that she "RAN AWAY FROM A HURRICANE".

Thanks for listn'n. John,PA.
