Well it was a good day. We are moving to the Hill country in TX next month. We closed on our house yesterday. We are in a moving mood and my 52 8N is still all apart. I have to get it together so I can take it to our new place we are building.

So I was walking and met a neighbor who said he had an old Ford tractor that he would "GIVE" me. Now those are the words we old tractor people like to hear. This morning I went with the truck and trailer to see what he had. It was buried in trees and the front tires had rotted off. The back tires were sunk in the mud about six inches. He wanted it out of his property and we started to cut trees and vines to see what he had. It was in sorry shape, put some air in the back tire and winched it out of the trees. Then we put the ramps on the trailer and it winched up on the trailer for the five mile trip to our house.

I spent most of the day trying to see what I just got. It will probably not run but it has some good old parts. I cleaned the serial number plate off and it reads 9N 32345 star. I just could not let it be hauled off as junk. The starter is missing and the gas cap and hood cover were also missing. The front rims are rusted away and the back left tire is rotten and has two bulges where the inner tube is sticking through. The sheet metal is pretty much rusted. It will not go into gear and the transmission fluid is not milky, which is surprising aa it has been sitting outside for maybe twenty years.

So thats my story for today. We all try to save what we can on these old N's.

Alex

If it's not stuck hard,I'd try to get it running, make a long term project out of it after you get your other one back together.. maybe a full resto??

What luck! I got addicted to fixing up these great machines when I got my first 8N almost a year ago. Now I have two, and looking for another "project". Have fun!

Good luck,
Dan

Alex, sounds like it's in better condition than the "free" 8N I got. Have fun.
