We had a great day at the Inman GA. Farm Heritage Days tractor show. I got to meet Mr. Zane Sherman, his wife and grandsons, and Bill Wilson (Osbo). It was a pleasure to meet these fine folks and talk tractors with Zane and Bill. I told my wife and mother that Zane was a famous inventor and master Ford tractor mechanic as well as a celebrity (not to mention a very fine gentleman). I believe I could have talked tractors with them all day and then some.

I looked for Adam Paul and Eric ATL but I guess we didn't cross paths. Anyway, it was a good day. Lots of old tractors, hit-and-miss engines and old cars and trucks. The weather was great and the ground was not as wet as I thought it might be due to Ivan.

Gina the grandsons and I really did enjoy the show yesterday. Good talking to Rick and Bill Wilson. (Bill fed us with his famous BBQ) (Don't tell anybody else about it!) Delicious as usual with his BBQ and really the best sauce in the United States!

The tractors and other machines were interesting to see. That big old Case steam traction engine was really awsome and he sure got everybody's attention when leaned on that whistle cord. Hope he had ear plugs himself! Wonder if those old train engineers who drove the big black iron beasts were deaf as a stone by the time they got too old to hang out the window????? Thank goodness for hydrocarbon fueled machines of today!Where would we be without them?

Gina and I hope to make it to the show at Ft. Meade FL that the FL flywheelers put on in November. I am lucky that I have a sister that lives in Lakeland about 40 miles from Ft. Meade that I can mooch off for a few days while there.
We sure did enjoy the show last year. I tried to tell the sawyer that was spraying store bought belt dressing on the belt to the sawmill from the steam traction engine that Kayro or any kind of syrup would work a lot better but he just gave me a dirty look and turned away. "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink".

The belt kept slipping!

"Oh yea of little faith!"

Rick taught me a little about air conditioning that I didn't know. He teaches it at a college. Confirmed my old theory that Propane could be used as a refrigerant. (More dangerous than a 20 gallon tank of gasoline?) Told me that it is used in other countries where our benolevent government has no jurisdiction. (Got to try to remember to wear my helment when I ride my Honda 50!)

Yes, it was nice and seeing that huge Case steam tractor was a treat all by itself. Some of the really large hit and miss engines were not there and the number of tractors was less than last year, but still a decent representation of a lot of different brands. If any of you can come to the Cumming show which I think is in November, there will be a bunch of steam tractors and various other steam powered equipment.

Rick, sorry to have missed you (and Zane and Ozbo, and the others)
Sherry and I wound up meeting up with ED GA, and another nice couple (sorry, I forget their names!) Anyway, with the wedding a few days away, we spent the morning scrambling around and did not get there until 1:30.... We had a great time in a few hours.... Sherry as decided she wants a big ol' Farmall "M" for herself!!! That's a lot of tractor!!! I thought the turn out of people was better than a Saturday last year, but far less tractors... I think a lot of folks were not sure about Ivan....
Anyway, we'll have our act together next year, and plan on doing a Flywheelers show either November or February... With over twelve tractors now, I know Sherry will not be up for a "swap meet"!!!
Sorry about the delay today Rick, hopefully we can get together soon...
Adam

I hated not going but I"m late with a very important job. I had to make the choice between, doing what I want to do, or doing what I need to do. I worked all day. I do plan to go to the FL show NO MATTER WHAT. I hope to catch up and meet all the folks I missed by not going to Inman. Eric
