I have a '49 8N, The rear plug oil fowels about every 8 hours of operation. All the rest of the cillenders are OK. In your experiance, Is this verry common? I am in the Michigan National Guard and will be in Iraq for the next year and a half. Wile I'm gone, My brother in law will be mowing my 2 acres for me.Do you think it will be Ok for 1 more season? I plan on a total rebuild when I get back.

As "Dell" said the hotter Auto Lite Plugs should help. Two other suggestions: Check your plug wires and be sure they are good and are copper core wires NOT automobile noise suppression type wires. Could be your rings are gummed up, put some MMO "Marvel Mystery Oil" in the cylinder and let it sit for a few days. It may un-gum the rings if that is the problem.

My thanks to you for the job you are being asked to do for ALL of us. Just leave your brother in law a plug wrench and a wire brush and a few instructions on how to clean the plugs and he should be ok. I hope you will have the opportunity to check in on this board and let us know how you are doing over there and the good things the troops are doing. I wish Dan Rather was going in your place.

Warrior..... ...NO, it is NOT a known weakness that causes any cylinder to turn into an "oilburner". Iff'n yer not using already, recommend the "hotter" AutoLite AL-437 sparkies to burn off the oil deposits a little bitt better. And sparkplug extenders can also help, they're in the "help" section of weird autoparts, clips, handles, springs ...etc...

Thankyou for your military service. Your tractor will be here for you when you return. Take care..... ..Dell

As long as you maintain the oil level in the crankcase it will be OK.

You might want to get a plug extender to make the plug go longer before it fouls. It is a thing you install in the plug hole and then put the plug into it.

Good luck in Irac. Hope you don't have much trouble while over there.

Thanks from me and my family for going! I appreciate the sacrifice that you men are giving. It is a just cause in my opinion but bad people will always be amoung us in this world. We just got to try to stay one step ahead of them if possible.
