Working on my NAA, the steering wheel has 3 -4 inches of "play" (ie: I can turn the steering wheel almost 4 inches before the wheels turn). Is this "normal" amount of play in the wheel (suspect not)? What would it take to reparir? Thanks in advance for the information.

Like Rick said you can probably adjust it out using the adjustment on the steering gear box. Piece of cake !!
Good Luck, Lee

3-4 inches is just a tad sloppy. If you can get it to 3 inches or under by adjusting the sector screws.. I'd be happy. Mine has about that much play. I know eventually it will need a steering rebuild.. I'm just not looking to do it now.

Randy, the NAA has two adjusting screws (one on each side) on the steering housing that can adjust the slack out of the internal gears. The FO-19 manual gives a good discription on how to adjust the steering box. There are a few other items that can contribute to loose steering; worn draglink ends, worn spindle bushings and a worn front axel kingpin/bushing. HTH. Rick H. Ga.
