Anyone know a good source for tires in Connecticut? I need rear tires for an 8N. It has Firestone 4ply 11.2x28 now. Has anyone ever ordered tires over the internet?

Thanks for any info you can give.

I replaced the rear tires last year on my 9n. Bought some Chinese tires, didn't really want to but the price was right. Mounted and new tubes, about $295 for the pair of 11 something 28's. Shamrock Tire, Wichita,Ks. Tires look pretty good. Good stiff sidewalls, good lugs. If you want I can go look for the brand name. Could be a dealer where you are.

I rely on Foskett Equipment they are located in woodstock they are great to work with and they mostly deal with olde iron. 860-928-5748

I ordered a set from Tucker Tyre a couple of years back. They came on the rims, on a large truck. I've been totally satisfied. Did not have a problem mounting them to my discs, like other folks have been saying. I'm totally satisfied with the price and service. No, I don't work for Tucker Tyre, hehehe. The pic is one from Tucker Tyre's e-bay sales thing on the net.

Forgot to say, the thing is, I kept the old tyres on their rims for spares, since they always go flat on weekends when the local tyre place ain't open! Now, I'll be able to replace them when I want/need to. Bummer when the tyre goes flat when the crops are in the field!! One more advantage to the "tyres on rims" deal.

Both of the following names get tossed around here quite a bit: tucker and miller

I believe at least one of them will even ship the tire/tube/rim.. etc.

Are your rears flat now? or just ratty looking? Or are you looking for show quality replacements.

Personally.. with the high cost of rubber.. I let tires on my tractors go till the completely fall off the rim.. ( or blow off the rim.. as one on my 2n did.. ).

Both tires are pretty dry rotted and cracked and don't have much tread left. One tire has developed a slow leak so I put slime in it last night to see if it would fix things.

I have used the 8N to brushhog some land and it has done a great job however pretty soon I'm going to use it along with a backhoe to put in a pretty long driveway. I plan on using the 8N with a boxblade to scarify. Then move the dirt with the backhoe. Then do the grading with the 8N and a grader blade. Since I have a lot of work coming up with the 8N I was thinking it might be time for some new tires.

Thanks for the information. This site has been invaluable in helping keep the tractor running.
