Anyone found a difference in the two pieces, besides the part number?

Rob..... ..yes, the upper rear rope packing p/n 8N-6701 is colored "green"; and the lower rear rope packing p/n 8N-6702 is colored "red". Other than the color, no one seems to know what the differences are, it any. And since they don't come with "instructions" or "lables", I suspect that many have been "miss-installed". According to the Flathead V8 gurru "Red's Headers", the original rope seals had asbestos in them and his replacements use "Kelvar". He also sells the modern and improved 1-piece front seal that also fits our N-Crankshafts..... ..Dell

The rear ones are harder to light and have much stronger taste. ;Þ
