Hi All,

I got my Jubilee project tractor cranked today after 3 months of intense refurbishing. She fired right up but ran a little sluggish to start with until I realized I had two plug wires crossed. I was tired when I put the new plug wires on and had #3 and #4 crossed. The carburetor started leaking gas as soon as I opened the fuel bowl valve (apparently, the new neoprene tipped needle was sticking/leaking). I took it back apart and put the old steel needle back in it and readjusted the float level. That seemed to stop the fuel leaking. The oil pressure shot up to 60# and settled down to about 50# hot.

It was a good feeling to hear it run after all the time, work and money I have spent on it. The transmission seems to work great after replacing the main shaft 3rd gear and the counter shaft. The hydraulic lift seems to work but I haven’t lifted a heavy load yet.

I still need to refinish the hood panels and fenders but the grand finally was to her run after years of neglect and sitting idol.

I have thoroughly enjoyed tinkering with the old Jubilee and look forward to getting it completely finished. There is almost not a bolt or nut I have not turned and have had it taken completely apart. I have learned a lot from reading the archives and asking questions here.

Thanks for listening.

Great news! My Jubilee is slowly coming back together. I have the crack welded and ground, used JBW to make it invisible (sandpaper trick) and I'm waiting for the engine stand to arrive plus a few parts, then I'm gonna get serious about building the engine. I'm wondering if I should look in the tranny while it's down, not sure if I wanna!

Hey Ramrod, Dell and Leemo had some good advice on your transmission. I had to repair mine out of necessity and it was not an easy job.

I saw the picture of the crack in your block. It didn't look too bad. Glad to hear you got it fixed up.

On my Jubilee project I rebuilt the front axel assembly, new draglink ends, rebuilt engine (bored sleeves .020 over, new .020 pistons, rings, turned crank .010 under, new bearings, rebuilt oil pump, completely rebuilt head); rebuilt carburetor, New 12 volt alternator, new wiring, new solenoid, rebuilt the lift cover with new hydraulic cylinder piston and O rings, adjusted linkage, new flywheel ring gear, pilot bearing, new clutch and release bearing, new brakes, new transmission seals (along with replacing a busted mainshaft 3rd gear and countershaft), new gauges, new PTO seal and new paint. I probably forgot a few things.

Anyway, I hope your Jubilee restoration projects goes well. I'm not an expert but let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Ramrod..... ...I wouldn't mess with the tranny unless you already knew sumptin was wrong (its called "mission creep", grin) BUT I would automatically change the tranny input shaft SEAL ($3 cheap) Ittza 4-bolt 15 minute job. TIP: you can also use the tranny input shaft to align your clutch plate on the flywheel when you puttchurr engine back together..... ..Dell

What about rebuilding the tranny input shaft while it's out? There's a seal and bearing or two I think???

Not really any reason to unless the bearing is bad. It's your tractor though.
Good Luck, Lee

Great news Rick. I can only imagine the good feeling this day must bring. Makes me look forward to the day I get my 9N running that much more. I still don't have the 9N yet. Maybe never, I don't know. I've stopped looking forward to it. My hopes have been dashed too many times. Thanks for bringing one of our friends back to life and sharing it with us. I'm happy for you too. Eric
