Ok thanks to the great answers from a previous post, I knew what parts to get and they arrived today. I removed the front tie rod end easily enough. The rear link is loose enough that I can turn the nut by hand, but the whole thing turns and I cannot see inside where I can grab onto anything to keep it from turning so I can remove the nut! I must be really ignorant here...so go ahead and make fun of me but give me the answer! Thanks!

Mine did the same thing, and my needle nose vice-grips were just the ticket.

Don"t leave home without em!

How much play can you get on the joint before the steering arm. I used an old pair of cheapy jiffy store pliers thet were thin to begin with, and ground them down to about 1/4" wide and used that to get a stubborn one off my NAA.. but then.. I had the room to get 1/4 Inch in there. Worst comes to worst i guess you could cut the threaded portion off.. might take some time though.

Try this. in reply to DonInIL, 09-29-2004 16:55:10
Grab your hacksaw and cut a slot into the end of it and hold it with a screwdriver, a big screwdriver.

You can tie a two by four to the pitman arm and use it to put pressure against the ball rod end and this will push it into the taper and tighten it enough to remove the nut.

May take another set of hand to do it unless you are a three armed man which is what a really good mechanic needs to be.
