Have a 52 8N and need to put new light switch in I see the replacement has a fuse on it.
The one I had did not.
On the 8n do I need the Original
Or can I go to a car parts store and use one from them

rat1..... ...the ORIGINAL dealer installed frontlight kit, the lightswitch had a 20amp fuse cliped to the body. Fuses are a good idea. And you can use generic push/pull headlight switches with built-in fuses. Notta big deal electrically, may be a slight problem with hole sizes for mounting. I'm certain that you can be clever enuff to deal with that..... ....Dell

Electrically speaking.. a switch is a switch.. just contacts.. kinda like your points.

Any switch rated for the load should do.

I use heavy marine toggles on my 8n and naa for light switches now.

the fuse is a great idea.. whether the switch has one or not.

Mine just failed last week (after dark of course). I got one from Autozone & it seems to work just fine so far -- make sure amp rating is high enough....I think mine was rated at 50 amps, which is overkill for sure.
