I spent all week-end driving my '46 2N with a through the hood air intake. Your picture just jumped right out at me.
If your student is 10 or older, he may be ready to learn. Many of us on this board did at 10, although my dad had me steering an old Oliver-Hartpar 70 at age 8. Gosh was(is) that 8N a piece of cake.

That looks like a 2N but the air intake is on the wrong side. Did you "flip" the picture over?
Looks like you have an anxious student driver waiting for the next lesson. Safety first, have fun.
