HELP!!
Time is running out. We have to be out opf our hosese by the 15 of Oct.. I took my 52 8N apart in 1998 and I can't remember where things go.
I have all the manuals but I can not get the gearshift to go down with the support (8N7257) (10). I can not see how it fits (10) on the lever and still fit on the transmission. I must have taken it apart but now I can not see where it goes?? Please help ASAP.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex, if you are talking about the transmission cover and shifter, the transmission gearshift rails must be in the neutral position for the cover and shift lever to fit.

There are three mechanisms that have to be aligned to be in neutral, the lower reverse rail, the upper second and forth gear rail and the top first and third rail (rod).

The two lower rails should be vertically straight (plumb) and the top rod should be centered (not all the way forward or backward).

When these items are aligned the shifter cover should go right into place. HTH Rick H. Ga.
