Plow shares

I picked up an old Dearborne two bottom plow this summer at an auction. Finally got to put it to use several weeks ago to turn up a feed plot. In the process I bent the point of the front plow. I think that was due to the rocky ground, but the share looked like it was missing much of the bottom edge, I"m guessing from rusting while sitting on the ground. That left the point very unsupported.

Anyway, it appears that these shares just bolt onto the moldboard and should be trivial to replace. What I don"t know is are they still available, and if so, where would I find them.

So, can they still be had, and where?

Many thanks,

Check the classified adds.(Upper left margin this
page). There is usually a phone number of a supplier listed. I haven't used it myself so can
not vouch for them.

I got plow shares, shins and landsides for my Dearborn Economy plow at my local New Holland dealer, last year.

My tools always seem to be the last place "someone" left them (not always me).
I've read that there is a place in Penn. that sells them, possibly cheaper unless you add shipping cost.
A well healed plow pulls a lot easier. Good luck.

Nope none available!! I"ll give ya 10 bucks for it as is.... OK I lied,,,,,
Wayne here in central Pa. we have quite a few small implement dealers and most of them deal with the Amish, so they carry a good selection of older plow shares and shins. All of them tell me that they deal with a foundry in Ohio that still produces most any share known to man. Now I know this isn"t helping you, and I did look in the TSC blue book and didn"t see any listing for Dearborn, but I"m sure they"re available somewhere. Ron
