My PTO driveshaft is ribbed, as is the shaft coming from my bush hog. The new driveshaft for my bush hog is ribbed on one end and round but smooth (on the inside)on the other. Is there an attatchment I need?

As I recall, the spline is to fit the input of a slip clutch mounted at the input of the mower's gear box. As Stumpy said, the round one is for a shear pin.

Sounds as if you may have gotten the wrong shaft for your mower. Some are set up to utilize a grade 2 bolt @ the mower, that is why the inside is round and smooth. The hole is probably either a 3/8" or 7/16". If you need a "splined" shaft like on the tractor, you will need to return your new shaft for a replacement or have the yoke changed to accomodate your mower. Not a big deal.
