After 20 minutes of smooth purring, my 8N stalls and only runs w/ full choke and half throttle. I guess I'm takin' that carb off and takin' a look?

My bet is a cracked or leaking intake manifold

I had an old 4x4 suzuki samari that acted the same way . It was bad gasoline. Replace your fuel and add some Sea Foam treatment. It will treat your gas and clean the carb. Dave

Greenhorn..... ...ain'chur carb, itz'chur SPARKIES.

Heres the deal, weak sparkies need enriched mixture or it don't fire worth shute. By pullin' yer choke you enrich your mixture. Rich mixtures fire eazier than regular lean mixtures. Simple, eh?

There are 4 common runtime issues to consider:
1) runs for about 1 minute and quits; bad condenser, not your stated problem
2) runs for about 5 minutes and quits; clogged fueltank filters, not your stated problem
3) runs for about 1 hr and quits; restarts the next morning after cooling off overnite; not your stated problem
4) runs for about 15 minutes and quits; sound like your stated problem? Its yer ignition switch with gunked up guttz, change it. $10 (cheap)

Try a jumper around the ignition in reply to 8ngreenhorn, 10-10-2004 09:56:28
switch. Might be bad switch. Get a new one don't hang a key chain on it, just the one key and install it with the pins on top and it might last longer.
Check the spark when it craps out and needs choke, might be the coil. You need a snappy, blue spark and a yellow spark isn't a good spark.
Bend the plug wires and if they show any surface cracks get new copper-core wires and that might fix it. 5-strand or 7-strand copper is fine.
